Encarna Piñero, CEO of Grupo Piñero, together with Lydia Piñero, chairwoman of the Investment Committee, are currently supervising the progress of the construction of Cayo Levantado Resort, Grupo Piñero's major sustainable innovation project in the Dominican Republic, which is taking shape with the help of local companies and talent in Samaná Bay in the Dominic Republic.

In her meeting with the local engineers, designers, professionals and companies that are participating in this project, Encarna Piñero explained that "Cayo Levantado Resort is our main project in the hotel division, a cross-cutting project and an example of the practical implementation of innovation and sustainability as the central axis of everything we undertake, since it is based on three pillars: the environment, local culture and wellness.”
Environment, Local Culture and Wellness
Regarding the Environment, Cayo Levantado will be a reference as a sustainable resort, focusing on renewable energies and with a global waste management strategy in which it is working with the Ministries of Tourism and the Environment of the Dominican Republic, in addition to investing in native gardening and landscaping in collaboration with the Botanical Garden.
Local Culture is another of the great strengths of the project, with the incorporation of talent from the Dominican Republic including designers, interior designers, architects and professionals, thus contributing to the economic and business development of the area, and above all, integrating the local culture in all areas, including gastronomy and mixology.
And as far as Wellness is concerned, the company is relaunching this concept from a more integrative perspective, offering a 360-degree vision of the customer experience that encompasses all areas of the resort, such as health, food, peace & quiet, sports, relaxation, retreats, spa and a long etcetera.
A Purely Local Concept with all the Dominican Rhythm
In the words of the company's CEO, “one of the great strengths of the Cayo Levantado Resort project is the incorporation of the Dominican Republic's own creative and design talent. “For this reason, we have surrounded ourselves with a group of Dominican designers who are going to help us conceptualize this project,” she added.
With the 'hidden rhythm' concept we want to make it possible to internalize the rhythm of the country, something that Dominicans carry in their DNA, and in architecture rhythm is also an element that composes and develops the creative design and architectural details.
In terms of interior design, the conceptual development of the project is the responsibility of the local company Arquimilio and the interior designer Ramón Emilio. In this way, local professionals are in charge of reflecting the Dominican rhythm, colors and culture so that guests feel immersed in it in every corner of the resort.
Local talent is not only generating all the details of this great venture of Grupo Piñero. It will also play a starring role in the customer experience when the resort is in operation.
